Orion is a highly recognisable constellation due to it being bright and resembling a person. As it is located on the celestial equator Orion is visible throughout the world.
This constellation contains Rigel, which is a very bright star equal to approximatley 60,000 of our suns. In fact if Rigel was as close to us as Sirius it would be one-fith as bright as the full moon!
Technically you don't need any equipment at all to see Orion! However, to see the fainter stars in the constellation, especially from a light-polluted location would require a good pair of binoculars.
